Wigton Cemetery is situated on the north-west edge of Wigton and provides a peaceful and respectful place of remembrance for the local community. At its centre stands the impressive Banks Family Mausoleum, a notable landmark within the cemetery and an important part of Wigton’s heritage.

The cemetery grounds are managed by the Wigton Burial Joint Committee (WBJC), an independent joint committee comprising representatives from Wigton Town Council, Waverton Parish Council and Woodside Parish Council. The three parishes work together to oversee the maintenance, management and ongoing development of the cemetery, ensuring it remains a well-kept and dignified resting place for those laid to rest here and for the families and visitors who come to remember them.
